"I'm not familiar with that book," he said, then started shuffling through some promotional floppy disks. "Could I learn from 'Unix for Dummies?'" I think he realized I was a novice to the coding culture. "It's one of the more complex languages." "No! Unix is a programming language," he tisked. "Is that a designer drug?" It was an innocent question from a guilty boy. "Typically my dreams start off easy and I'll do a few lines of Unix." "What kind of coding?" I asked the social washout. Palm Pilot Cartoon Porn? It's a sad, sad world. Some nights it's hard for me to sleep because I have rows of command output scrolling through my brain," he said while fumbling to conceal the screen of his Palm Pilot. "I go to bed at night and dream of coding. I caught him off guard and he was a bit humiliated. I interrupted him receiving a beam of cartoon porn from a Palm user one booth over. So I asked him to tell me a little bit about his fascination with coding. The card said "Code Masters," and assumingly the guy claimed to be versed in any form of computer language. The first booth I visited was comprised of a makeshift display table and an index card with the business name scribbled sloppily and off center. If you were to stack every lens from all the spectacles one on top of the other you'd have a pile high enough to climb Steve Ballmer's C++ book collection, wherein you'd probably get a nose bleed because that's what happens when nerds elevate. "Look at all the shitheads with glasses!" I thought to myself as I stepped in the expo.

All of which were so ugly I wouldn't use them to de-wax my ears.

It was an interesting experience full of free pencils and mouse pads. It's a smaller version of COMDEX for local residents who can't fly to Vegas. I will make sure to give my students short breaks in between learning activities.I attended the TechNet Asia Computer Expo. When I am a teacher, I will definitely keep this idea in mind. Breaking information up into parts and making sure I understand/ am able to recall one part before taking in new information will really help me to retain it. It made me think about how important it is to review the information I am learning, as I am studying it. This is a great tip and I think I am going to start using it. Listening to what Blair had to say was really interesting. Repeat this process until your studying is finished. As you become more tired, take longer breaks. Do not move on to new information until you can recall the old information.

These frequent breaks refresh you! After your break, begin another study period and start with reviewing the information from your last study period. During these 2-15 minute breaks it is important that you do something you enjoy and that is unrelated to your study material. You will be able to study less and remember more if you take short breaks for every 20- 60 minutes that you study. He then goes on to explain a remedy for this situation. In the podcast, Cody Blair talks about our brains and how if we try to study too much information all at once, we will not be able to recall the information we studied first. My favorite one was about taking frequent study breaks. The sections of podcasts I focused on were study tips.
